About Migraine

Migraine are a debilitating disorder that affects approximately 12% of the population. Migraines are characterized by recurrent attacks lasting 4 to 72 hours, if left untreated, and associated with multiple symptoms, including unilateral (one side of the head) pulsating (throbbing) headaches of moderate to severe pain that could be accompanied by nausea or vomiting, and/or sensitivity to sound (phonophobia) and sensitivity to light (photophobia).1

Other symptoms may include:

  • Head, face or neck pain
  • Poor concentration
  • Low-energy or depressed mood
  • Frequent yawning
  • Irritability

Unfortunately, migraines cannot be cured. There are some treatments that can help with the symptoms; however, these may not work for every individual.

The Migraine Study is researching the effectiveness of a study drug for adults who experience migraines.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a clinical research study?

A Clinical Research Study (also called a clinical trial) is a medical study that helps answer important questions about an investigational drug or device, such as: does it work, or how effective is it compared to another drug/device?

All medications must be tested in clinical research studies before they can be approved by regulatory authorities for doctors to prescribe to patients. Without people taking part in these studies, we would have no new treatments. The volunteers who participate in clinical research studies play a major role in helping to advance medicine.

The Migraine Study may use placebos, where half the participants will be receiving the active study drug, while the other half will be receiving a treatment that looks and feels like the study drug but does not contain the active ingredient.

All study-related care is provided at no cost to you. You do not need health insurance to participate.
